Why should I use MEGALON in addition to the modern motor and gear oils currently on the market, which already contain more additives?
Our products work on the principle of solid lubrication, which considerably enhances the load-bearing properties of these oils. Solid lubrication (ceramic particles) prevents metal-on-metal contact to the greatest possible extent, even under extreme stress (high pressures and temperatures), and friction is drastically reduced.
Why does using MEGALON save fuel, and how does it improve performance?
No doubt you can still remember from your physics lessons that “friction creates heat” – and the result of this is energy loss.
Friction occurs in every engine, which causes lost energy in terms of output and fuel.
With better lubrication, the horsepower (KW) previously wasted on engine friction is then available as additional power to the wheels, and fuel consumption is automatically reduced.
MEGALON creates smoother surfaces at contact points. Smoothing the running surfaces of cylinders and piston rings allows oil scrapers to work properly, which reduces oil consumption. In addition, smaller amounts of blow-by gas are able to escape past the piston rings, leading to significantly less chemical contamination of the oil. Smoother contact surfaces also mean that the oil is exposed to considerably lower mechanical stress.
This is called carbon-hydrogen chain shearing. With MEGALON, the oil largely retains its high initial lubricity and there is far less thickener shearing.
The oil viscosity required at higher temperatures is maintained, which in turn has an enormously beneficial impact on the lubricity and load-bearing properties of the base oil.
Overall, this greatly reduces wear and increases compression, which has a positive effect on consumption.
Why do cold starts cause particularly high wear?
If a vehicle is parked for hours, the motor oil flows back to the sump from sliding contact points. When the engine is started, it then takes around 5-8 seconds (longer in winter) for the oil pump to return the motor oil to the places where it should be protecting moving parts against wear.
In these initial 5-8 seconds, every single piston makes some 110-170 up and downward movements without adequate lubrication. During this period, and in the first few minutes, the engine accumulates as much wear as it would over approximately 150 kilometres – and it does so every time.
However, if MEGALON is used in the engine, this wear is completely avoided. This is because the micro-ceramic incorporated at the contact points will immediately provide a special lubricating effect (dry lubrication).
In winter, when cold starts are naturally much more damaging due to the fact that the oil is colder and more viscous, MEGALON’s anti-wear effect is particularly strong.
In what vehicles (engines) do you recommend using MEGALON?
Our basic rule is as follows:
The greater the load on the engine, the more important it is to use MEGALON. This applies to all common rail diesel and turbo engines, as well as to particularly sporty driving and motorsports.
Can I use MEGALON with a motorcycle that has a wet (oil bath) clutch?
Of course. The micro-ceramic only affects metal, which completely eliminates the possibility of clutch slippage.
However, please note that motorcycles must use only the dedicated motorcycle products developed specifically for this purpose!
Will using MEGALON invalidate my warranty?
No!
MEGALON does not chemically or physically alter the base oil, and therefore does not affect oil standardisation.
What do repair shops and tuners think of MEGALON?
Repair shops:
Repair shops are often delighted with MEGALON, as they find it eliminates nearly 100% of rattling from hydraulic tappets, prevents the second gear from snagging in many brands of car, and lowers oil temperatures. With other vehicle brands it almost completely removes the need to brake slightly when changing up a gear, and for diesel users it reduces vibration.
Engine tuners:
Many tuners now use MEGALON to compensate for the increased wear caused by chip tuning. MEGALON also significantly improves vehicle performance and protects the gearbox. This is sometimes referred to as liquid tuning.
How long after filling will it start to take an effect?
A significant drop in noise level will be noticeable after driving a few kilometres. You will also feel a clear improvement in performance within this short space of time. Fuel savings are measurable from the first time you fill up.
The engine deposit phase will be complete after around 1,000 to 2,000 kilometres. If an oil change is due, it can be carried out from this point on.
The effect is long lasting.
How often do I need to add MEGALON to the engine?
To keep MEGALON working at its best, we recommend topping up passenger vehicles with 50% of the initial quantity at every second oil change.
Buses, trucks and commercial vehicles should be topped up at every oil change to achieve an optimum result, as these vehicles are usually only due for an oil change every 80,000 kilometres.
